  • ABOUT THIS COURSE

    8 PRE-RECORDED Video Lessons + One Live 60 Minute Q&A on July 18, 2025 @ 4:00 pm Pacific

Movement challenges are the functional limitations most often neglected in the treatment of children with ASD. Current motor control literature and neurobiological research highlight the motor systems impairments in the increasing prevalence of the ASD diagnosis. Neuro-Developmental Treatment (NDT) is a frame of reference that guides clinicians in the analysis and treatment of posture and movement. This cutting-edge workshop will apply NDT principals, assessment, and intervention in treating the movement challenges of children on the spectrum. Comparing and contrasting between ASD compensatory motor patterns and typical motor development will be emphasized, offering a foundation for the facilitation of new motor learning through lecture, videotape analysis and virtual lab. This pre-recorded on-demand learning experience will be available for viewing for 365 days.

    Course Objectives

    • Understand neurobiological and motor control research foundations of the movement impairments in ASD

    • Describe Neuro-Developmental Treatment foundations of assessment and intervention for individuals with ASD

    • Appreciate the comparison of components of movements observed in typical development and movements observed in children on the spectrum

    • Acquire introductory handling skills and play schemes to enhance the unique motor learning and functional impairments for children on the spectrum
